How I Work

As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I have trained in many different approaches to therapy. I draw upon these methods to tailor our work to your unique needs. However, my work is most influenced by psychodynamic ways of understanding your struggles. I believe it is important to look at your current problems or long-term difficulties in the context of your whole life, and together try to discover the links between past and present experiences. We will explore early attachment patterns, conflicts, anxieties, defensive behaviours and relational patterns to help you gain a better understanding of yourself, your difficulties and how you can achieve greater satisfaction and stability, and work toward desired change and new possibilities.  When necessary we might also use EMDR therapy to work with unresolved trauma.

Supporting and sustaining this work is our relationship. Empathy, trust and respect will enable a strong bond to develop between us so that you can share your concerns on the most personal level and slowly begin to create change.
